Zoom fatigue
At the moment we can seem to spend our entire working lives on Zoom calls, here’s a few tips to make these more enjoyable and less stressful
Number 1
If you are organising the meeting suggest just using audio. Zoom calls are vdry intense and people feel like they are performing.
Many calls a day is extremely tiring. So request, sometime if possible, to only use audio rather than visual.
Number 2
Try a walking meeting and walk as you talk.
If you are leaving the zoom call let people know it is OK to have imperfection.
There might be noise of children, pets or builders – do not allow this to annoy you.
Number 3
Take deep breathes befroe the meeting. Breath lowers the streess hormones in your blood stream and gives you a reater feeling of well being. Try three deep breathes as low down in your body as possible ( from your tummy) because when we get anxious our breathing becomes rapid in our throats which sometimes leads to panic.
Number 4
Standing up for part of the meeting.
Sitting all day in front of the computer is NOT ideal. It is better for your body and mind if you stand up for part or all of the meeting, even if you manage only about 10 seconds.Do more if you can.
If you feel bored or frustrated it will remind you to stand up, and burn off some of your pent up energy too.
Number 5
Impove your wifi connection Or, hardwire to your modem
It is very frustrating to get a poor wifi signal . So take time to connect your computer directly to your modem. If this is difficult for you – talk to a techical person. If you find each time you cannot hear properly you can use that to deep breathes and bring yourself to the present moment.
Bonus Tip
Search online for power line adapter WIFi then your data can go directly though to your computer.
Number 6
Use the’ end meeting’ button as a mindful reminder
When the call ends use the button to remind you to breathe again!!!!
Do not do…
…five zoom calls one after the other. Always schedule white space in your diary. After your zoom call stand up, look out of the window, have some water and stretch.
Make sure you drink two litres of water a day. Get this water in before 6 pm to prevent several trips to the bathroom during the night. Usually drinking water would promote two urinations an hour so stop drinking one hour before your meeting. You’ll notice that drinking still water gives you energy.
